...or at least seriously maimed by allowing them to catch Polio or Measles. She's been at this for a while, but today Time has an article online where they quote a couple of her gems that are worse than usual:

I do believe sadly it's going to take some diseases coming back to realize that we need to change and develop vaccines that are safe. If the vaccine companies are not listening to us, it's their f___ing fault that the diseases are coming back. They're making a product that's s___. If you give us a safe vaccine, we'll use it. It shouldn't be polio versus autism.

and another one:

People have the misconception that we want to eliminate vaccines. Please understand that we are not an antivaccine group. We are demanding safe vaccines. We want to reduce the schedule and reduce the toxins. If you ask a parent of an autistic child if they want the measles or the autism, we will stand in line for the f___ing measles.

I'm sorry Jenny, but I don't think you speak for the majority of parents of autistic children when you say they'd rather their children get the measles and end up blind, disabled or dead. If you want the measles so badly, I'm sure someone can arrange for you to be locked in a hermetically sealed room and have some nice measles and polio virus released in with you. Then you can experience first hand what your lunatic rantings are subjecting other peoples' children to.

This woman is stupid, but also very dangerous. She is leveraging whatever star power she has and scaring the hell out of parents for no reason other than to sell her own books and the "alternative" treatments of her cohorts. What's even more worrying is that Time Magazine is giving this idiot an avenue to spread her misinformational garbage.

Study after study showing no causal link between vaccines and autism and they still scream the same tired lines. Mercury! Aluminum! Tooooooooxins! And the parents eat it up and stop vaccinations for their children. Now, we are seeing more measles cases than in recent years, and still this moron has the audacity to say she'd rather have Polio come back than to have parents vaccinate her children.

Enough of this harpy, already.

Orac has a write up about this most distressing article.

The Bad Astronomer weighs in, here.

Kev over at the Autism Blog also has an entry on what he calls McCarthygeddon

Another update: Dr. David Gorski also has a write-up of "teh st00pid" over at Science-Based Medicine.

Isn't it a wonder that all these, well, science-type people keep denouncing the blonde bimbo, but for some reason people keep listening to her??
