So long, XM Radio...
Sometimes, change is not always for the better.
Ever sing the XM-Sirius satellite radio merger, I've become more unhappy with my XM radio every day. The one music station that I listened to has been neutered and is not essentially top 40 from the 1990s. XM-Talk, which carried a bunch of programs that I enjoyed listening to has become the Glenn Beck station. It seems that no matter what time of day I turn on the station, I hear conservative whack-a-loon Glenn Beck screaming at his microphone. He's on for something like 8 hours every weekday and and reruns on the weekends. Not to mention that I still have to sit through the 15 minutes per half hour of ads that every other AM radio syndication listener has to suffer through for 15 minutes per half hour.
So, I'm done. After three years and two radio accounts, I can't take it any more. I hear that even after the merger that the company is still tanking. Good. Stupid programming decisions and rate raises aren't exactly a good way to keep your customers happy.
[Update]: Hmmmm...looks as though I might have a fight on my hands to get the service canceled. There's a posting here that details the tribulations one has to go through to cancel an XM subscription. It's a year or so old, but XM still doesn't have a simple "Cancel Subscription" option from my account page. As far as I'm concerned, that just solidifies my decision to cancel. I think tactics like this (making me call so I can be pressured in person) is just about one step above the New York camera & video bait and switch shops that make you call to verify an order, then after not being able to sell you their worthless add-ons, tell you that the product is back ordered indefinitely. Scumbags.
